TW Perry Building Science Class March 2018
Name: TW Perry Building Science Class March 2018
Date: March 13, 2018 - March 14, 2018
Day 1, Tuesday, March 13, 2018 – Building Science/High Performance Building Foundation
Instructor Peter Yost will lay the groundwork for designing, specifying, and building high performance homes: homes that are energy efficient, resource-efficient, durable, healthy, and valuable. Achieving this must start with building science: understanding how energy and moisture move on, through and in our buildings. Peter will use recent projects—design reviews, building investigations, materials testing—to make practical the building science behind high performance construction.
Day 2, Wednesday, March 14, 2018 – Local and National High Performance Projects
Steve Baczek is a “jobsite” architect with leading high performance homes throughout New England and the Southwest. Doug Horgan of BOWA is a topnotch high performance renovator in the Greater Washington, DC area. These guys will use recent projects to bring all the building science to the real world.
Day 3, Friday, April 20, 2018 – High Performance Building Tour
Join us on the TW Perry bus for a high performance building tour, where we will examine building design, materials, and operation/maintenance of selected buildings. During the tour and bus ride, Peter and Doug will regale riders with building stories and answer any questions you may have.
We will be returning to Lincoln Cottage to really go “behind the scenes” of this historic Gothic Revival cottage in northwest DC and go to one or two ongoing renovation projects to do some performance testing and hygrothermal building assessments.
The bus tour is optional and there is limited seating; please sign up today to reserve your seat. TW Perry will contact you with the meeting address and time. Tour includes continental breakfast and a full hot lunch.
